How Karen can help your horse...

Karen lives in southern Portugal, working with horses throughout Europe.  She graduated from the Vluggen School of Equine Osteopathy after completing a rigorous 3 and a half year study program. She is able to complement Equine Osteopathy with her skills in equine physiotherapies and nutrition.  Since 2010 she has accumulated vast experience working with horses from a variety of disciplines, from school horses to international Grand Prix and the Nation's Cup.
The key to success is being able to address the whole body, not just part of it. Equine osteopathy does that by focusing on the neurology, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology of the body's 3 major connecting systems:
  • Parietal - muscles, tendons, ligaments
  • Craniosacral - head, sacrum, spinal cord
  • Visceral - organs
Karen works closely with veterinarians, equine dental technicians and farriers in order to achieve the best results possible.

Karen was born in Buxton, England. She has a natural affinity with horses, having owned horses almost all her life.  At just 1 year old, her mother would sit her on the front of her saddle and they would go out riding together.  Whilst her friends rode bikes, Karen's childhood was spent riding the horses and ponies on their farm, and the weekends were spent competing at local horse shows.

Karen now has 6 horses and ponies at her Quinta in Portugal, including her heart horse Nuki, an Irish draught/German Holsteiner.
